9 BEAUTY STAPLES FROM THE DOLLAR STORE.

I don't know about you but I love the Dollar Store. Like literally love it! The Dollar Store is where I get many of my must-have beauty staples.

BOBBY PINS
No matter how hard I try or how many bobby pins I buy, I always end up losing them all. The Dollar Store has been an excellent place to stock up. I typically buy at least 2 or 3 packets at a time. And, for a $1, I can get three times as many bobby pins from the DS as I could from Target which are about $2.50+ for one packet!

HAIR TIES
A pack of hair ties can run you from about $2.50-$5.00 at Target or Walmart. As often as I break my hair ties trying to get them around all this hair (or lose them), there's just no way I'm paying that.

HEAD BANDS (THE SKINNY BLACK ONES)
I like to use the thin black head bands when I workout. They're great for keeping my hair out of my face and, they're a only a dollar. Win and win.

COTTON BALLS + Q-TIPS
Cotton balls and Q-tips are also two beauty essentials that I like to get from the Dollar Store. For just cleaning my ears, removing nail polish and doing random stuff with makeup you can't beat a dollar.

SHOWER CAP
I don't typically care if my hair gets wet when taking a shower but, the Dollar Store shower caps work flawlessly when I deep condition my hair.

LOOFAH
$2 for a loofah. Nah. Even $1.59 is too much when I can buy it for $1. I'll save my 59 cents and put it towards buying more bobby pins. Ha!

PADDLE BRUSH
Paddle brushes can be anywhere from $5-$15 depending on what kind you get. I get mine from the Dollar Store and you'd be surprised by the quality.

VO5 CONDITIONER (FOR A LL MY NATURAL HAIR SISTAS OUT THERE)
If you are a natural and you cowash often, VO5 conditioner is the IT product. For those who don't know, cowashing is short for conditioner washing and is when you wash your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Textured hair is naturally drier than straight hair. Using shampoo on textured hair  can be harsh on the hair because it strips it of it's natural oils. Surprisingly, conditioners have a small amount of cleanser in them and are a lot less (potentially) damaging to textured hair. Personally, my favorite conditioner is from Trader Joe's however, if I know I'm going to cowash my hair a lot during a certain week I'll use VO5 instead. It really hydrates my hair, gives good slip and is only $1 from the Dollar Store. Can't beat it!

When it comes to stocking up on must-have beauty staples, the Dollar Store is always my first choice. And, considering how often I lose my bobby pins and hair ties, it's probably a pretty good thing for my bank account as well. Ha!

  1. Ok, the $1 loofah sold me - I've always thought it was ridiculous how much they charge for what it is.

  2. I like to get their art supplies too - crayons, kid scissors, etc.

    1. The Dollar Store is great for that sort of stuff! I like to get the black picture frames and put quotes in them and put them around the house for inspiration.

  5. I love the dollar store for some of the same things! Bobby pins and hair ties are so ridiculously priced anywhere else, especially considering how much I lose them. Great post!

  6. The dollar store is great. I'm amazed at what I find there sometimes. I like to pick up serving platters there when I'm taking a passing dish to a casual party:that way, no one needs to worry about picking up the plate at the end of the night, or returning it later.
