Every now and then I find myself going back and looking through my old blog posts. Since deciding to take blogging more serious (more on that here), I deleted the majority of my past posts except for a few including one entitled, BITCH.
Post reads as follows:
Following the release of Kanye West's song 'Perfect Bitch,' there has been a lot of talk about the acceptance of the word 'bitch' in society.
Just a few years ago being called a bitch was a bad thing and often considered fighting words. However now, in many cases being called a "bitch" is a term of endearment. Women willingly call their friends and THEMSELVES a bitch and even feel empowered by using the word. Saying things like, "I'm a bad bitch" and "she's a boss bitch."
It's argued that in today's society the word 'bitch' has a new meaning. To some 'bitch' is an acronym for: beautiful, intelligent, talented, creative and honest.
I'm not convinced.
Personally, the word bitch has too much of a negative connotation for me to accept it as a term of endearment. A truly liberating and empowering word should be monumental no matter who says it or what context it's used in.
Your grandma may fit the "new definition" of the word bitch. She may be beautiful, intelligent, talented, creative and honest but would you call her a bitch? Would you call your pastor's wife or a potential business partner a bitch? Would you find it acceptable for your 5-year-old son to call women bitches even if he meant it in a positive way? Would you be okay with you your son calling YOU a bitch? Chances are you wouldn't.
No matter how you try to sugar coat it, I'd prefer not to be called a bitch.
If you think I'm beautiful, call me beautiful. If you think I'm intelligent, talented, creative and honest then call me intelligent, talented, creative and honest but don't call me a bitch.
So what do you think? What are your thoughts on the word? Innocent term of endearment or unacceptable? Comment below and let's chat. :)

Mmmmm....I don't see it as a term of endearment either. I still feel it's offensive and wouldn't want someone addressing me that way nor could I do it with one of my friends. It's probably one of the lesser offensive cuss words to me but still makes me cringe. And if I hear a female use it, it makes me cringe even more. It just feels wrong and so unladylike. Call me old fashioned - but not old! ;-)
