If you follow me here on Brittany Siierra and/or on
Instagram, you may know that a few weeks ago I got kind of personal and shared
my completely unfiltered new years resolutions.
Maybe it’s because my birthday is in three weeks or because
I’m practically 30 (I’m turning 26),
but I’ve been really trying to pay attention to all the things in my life that
I like, and the things that could be improved.
When I first learned about Betsy and Iya’s Unu Collection
and the message behind it, I knew I wanted to be a part of the movement. The Unu Collection is all about
breaking personal boundaries and empowering people to overcome all the things they
tell themselves they “can’t” do. The lookbook for the collection pairs the
simplicity of the jewelry with bold, bright colors and super gorgeous models
who, in my opinion, break a few boundaries of their own.
In their Facebook post, Betsy and Iya asked people to share
what boundaries they’re breaking this year and what they want to overcome in
2016. I’ve been thinking alot about
my own answer to this question and decided that this year, I really want
to break the boundary of telling myself I can’t afford to travel.
I never realized that I set this boundary for myself until I
was talking with a friend about her past travels and realized that the only
reason why I don’t travel is because I tell myself that I can’t. Every time a
friend asks me to go on a trip or I think about all the places I want to visit I
always tell myself that I can’t afford to go. BUT, if I'm being honest, I’m
quite certain that if I added up all the money I’ve spent on Starbucks,
eyelashes and shoes, I could probably afford to travel cross country and
back….a few times. Ha!
In 2016 I want to stop telling myself that I can’t afford to
travel and just get on a plane! (After properly saving and planning of course!
Ha!)
What boundaries are you breaking this year? Let’s chat
below!

Yay, Brittany! Breaking down your "I can't travel" barrier is going to lead to so many amazing adventures (and awesome Instagrams ;-) ). Thanks for sharing and for making our jewelry look so great.

What a great idea and it's also just a beautiful necklace!
ReplyDeleteYou are so wise to break that "can't afford to travel" boundary at such a young (from where I sit) age. Beautiful images too, Brittany!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love those boots! I think my boundary worth breaking is just my shyness! I've dealt with it all my life....sigh!
ReplyDeleteI love Betsy & Iya! And I think that's a great boundary to work on breaking, especially at such a young age :) Great outfit too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great outfit! I think about traveling sometimes, too, but then saving for other things like the next house takes precedence. I bet if you prioritize it, you can make it happen!
ReplyDeleteI love that you think 26 is so close to 30!! I thought the same back when ;)
ReplyDeleteI also love that you're so open with your goal to break your boundary! That's the first step. There are so many affordable was to travel. You can go anywhere you want and reach all your goals with a little creativity and focus!!
